You Cannot Be Serious

Update: In response to the overwhelming outpouring of protest, Apple has admitted their error by removing the offensive “Exodus International” app from their store.

Apple raised eyebrows this week when it gave the thumbs up to an iPhone app intending to help “cure” homosexuality. The application, titled “Exodus International”, was created by a religious organization which claims to be “committed to encouraging, educating and equipping the Body of Christ to address the issue of homosexuality with grace and truth.”

Perhaps most shocking of all is not the application’s approval, but Apple’s “4” rating which signifies an app that contains “no objectionable material.”

No objectionable material? An organization that archaically views homosexuality as a curable disease, and is willing to advance an argument of ignorance and hate isn’t considered objectionable?

Really, Apple?

And following her thoroughly unintelligent and homophobic rant in which she called a kiss between Golden Globe winner Chris Colfer and Darren Criss on a recent episode of Glee “sickening”, former SNL cast member and now outspoken conservative Victoria Jackson went on the air last night to defend her deplorable statements.

In addition to appearing sedated, Jackson in general seemed less credible than a middle school student’s speech on affirmative action. When asked about her remarks, Jackson replied, “Well, it doesn’t matter what I think. What matters is what the Bible says. And I’m really concerned about our country because immorality is, well, let’s see, secular humanism rules the airwaves, and it’s stealing the innocence away from this whole generation of children. My daughter is a teenager and I can’t find any show that she can watch.”

Still trying to shield your child from the big, bad, scary world, Ms. Jackson?

Jackson went on to classify the term “homophobic” as a “cute little buzzword of the liberal agenda.”

However, it wasn’t enough for Jackson to offend one community, she also had to slander an entire religion.

“I just want to know why the liberals are pro-Muslim and pro-gays. Muslims kill gays. That’s what’s confusing to me. And the only thing I can come up with is the Muslims hate God and the gays hate his word.”

Oh, but don’t worry. Before the Twilight Zone-esque interview ended, Jackson was desperate to remind viewers that she does indeed have gay friends and that they “love each other.”

I’m sorry Ms. Jackson, but you cannot be serious.

Don’t quote me too hard on this but as of about an hour I think Apple pulled this app from their store again. This will make the third time they’ve allowed it and then pulled it. We need to keep talking and blogging about this to make sure they don’t try and slip it through unnoticed. I’m gay and I’m fearfully and wonderfully made. Cure the gay my ass. They [Radical Right] really piss me off.

Thanks for the tip, Mike! I checked and you’re right, Apple’s removed the app. 🙂 Good for them. Keep holding their feet to the fire! This was a harmful app to begin with, especially for questioning youth.

Victoria Jackson hurts my head. She jumped on the crazy train with the rest of the teabaggers and just spits out whatever she sees on Fox News. She asks “What’s your agenda?” If there was an agenda, maybe acceptance and being generally good people? …And to see her backing up her statements with her bible is just comical.

Funny how “acceptance” and “tolerance” become bad words, but they can’t even realize their own hateful speech? It’s beyond me. Victoria Jackson looks drugged, and I hope that explains this interview. Sadly though, I doubt it.
